THE ROLE OF THE PRESIDENT OF THE IFSM

The principal role of the President between the International meetings is the support of Regional meeting and meetings of Member Countries. Thus CBC attended the CIASEM Merida meeting in 2011, the CAPSM Perth meeting in 2012 and the EMS Manchester meeting in 2012. The 36th meeting of JMS was held in Sapporo at the University of Hokkaido. As President, CBC has also attended two meetings of EMSI, the Electron Microscopy Society of India, a meeting of the Turkish Society, of the Mexican Microscopy Society, and of the Japanese Microscopy Society. The meeting of JMS in November 2012 in Hokkaido University was an excellent example of an efficient high-quality meeting in an economical setting, with many of the people you would want to see at such a meeting. In December, CBC will visit Pavel Hozak in Prague to assess the site for IMC-17.
